About other sealing elements
This category brings together special solutions that do not fall into the standard piston, rod or wiper groups: V-packing rings, high- and low-pressure seal sets and composite designs.
V-packing (chevron) sets consist of several V-section elements stacked on top of each other. As pressure rises, the packings press against each other and reinforce the seal; this design is favoured in high-pressure presses and heavy-duty cylinders. The set has a pressure ring at the front and a support ring at the back, and the number of packings is chosen according to operating pressure.
Ready-made seal sets gather all the elements a cylinder needs into a single pack. Switching to a set during maintenance, instead of hunting for individual parts, reduces fitting errors and guarantees that all elements have matching dimensions.
Products in this category are offered in NBR, PTFE, POM, polyamide (PA) and fabric-reinforced designs. Across the product tables, operating limits reach up to 400 bar and span −30 °C to +80 °C; each product's own values are given in the technical table on its page.
Applications include hydraulic presses, heavy-duty cylinders, equipment in steel and cement plants, and non-standard or discontinued machinery. When the original part cannot be found, it is often possible to build a suitable profile and set combination from the dimensions of the removed element. In these cases the part's cross-section, dimensions and the machine's operating conditions are assessed together; the fluid type is always asked, because even if the size fits, the wrong material will soon lead to another failure.
If you cannot find the size you need among the standard ones, or cannot read the code on the removed part, just send us the dimensions and operating conditions; our team in OSTİM, Ankara, will help you find the right solution.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is a V-packing set and how many packings are needed?
A V-packing set is a sealing assembly made of V-section elements stacked together. As pressure rises, the packings press against each other and reinforce the seal. The number of packings depends on operating pressure and groove width; tell us your conditions and we will determine the right set combination.
Is buying a ready-made set better than buying individual parts?
For maintenance, usually yes. The elements in a set have matching dimensions, which removes the risk of missing or wrong sizes and shortens fitting time.
I can't read the code on the removed part — what should I do?
Measure the inner diameter, outer diameter and groove width with a calliper and send them to us with a photo. A view of the cross-section and the operating conditions (pressure, temperature, fluid) are enough for an accurate match.
